Choosing the Right Path for Yourself
Life is a maze. It is full of twists and turns and events and encounters that emerge at any moment. When we question where we are headed, new uncertainty arises, but so too does something else – the power of rebirth. Rebirths aren’t about becoming a new person, escaping and leaving behind our pasts. It is about reshaping and reconnection with the true self that we rarely see or in some cases, rarely even remember existed. However, when this reconnection resurfaces, we can witness more clarity with purpose.
Kind Rebirths begins with early understanding of self-awareness. These are the moments when you begin to realize that life and all that you have been going through does not reflect who you truly are. The image we have of ourselves is not a true reflection of our soul or the things that we find the most value in. A rebirth ceases to need validation from external sources. Instead, it becomes about the quest to rebalance the scales of your being and return to your inner essence.
The word “kind” in the statement of Kind Rebirths acts as a homonym owning many different meanings and interpretations. Here, it honors that growth does not have to be heavy-handed or callous or difficult to accomplish. Equally, it’s not meant to be harsh, as kindness, by definition, holds benevolence. So, changing how you perceive yourself, view yourself, and handle yourself is a subtle action. Be kind to yourself on your journey.
The Journey
Because I am asking you to be kind to yourself doesn’t mean the journey will be easy. The very decision to rebirth yourself to change comes in stages. First is the stage of curiosity and questioning your very intent. Is this something I really want to do? Is this something I am really capable of doing? Is this the right time to make a change that others will notice in me instantly? The second stage is discomfort. As you begin to seek growth, you realize that it isn’t as easy as snapping your fingers. It takes some work and commitment. At this stage, be patient, but stay determined. Leo Tolstoy pointed out that the two most powerful warriors are patience and time.
As we look at the third, let’s look at clarity and transparency. Focus inward and listen to the divine intuition that guides you. Watch as the outside noises of the world fade away and eventually quiets. Then eventually, you are free to see the world through your eyes as it really is. And by that, I mean, you will find your path through the grass and through the weeds. That path may not suit everybody, but it’s yours and you get to claim it. Moreover, you begin to notice your energy shift. You found your place, the place where you feel most alive and inspired. Go all in on it!
The last area is alignment. As your path unfolds, everything you do begins to align and your intentions and your actions naturally align. It will become inherent and instinctive. Your thoughts and movements will be positively geared toward your mission effortlessly. When you arrive here, your purpose and peace have authentic origination.
Be Ready to Embrace
Your true pathway will emerge and when it does, be prepared. Be prepared for its entrance. That too will come subtly. We don’t discuss the end, because the journey is on-going. We are always striving to do better, to help more, to reach higher heights of true positive intent for others and ourselves. But how do you persist? How do you support continuing to move forward? There will be bumps, let’s get that straight right away. If it were easy to start, do and finish, we wouldn’t be here together discussing it. So, I offer you this:
Practice your mindfulness exercises daily – Stay present in your emotions, entertain your thoughts without attaching judgment, and learn the lesson that was intended from them.
Reflect daily – Remember those I mentioned to do when you get stressed out at work. Do more of those (breathing, walking, taking breaks) and do them with intent.
Don’t succumb to comparison – The grass is always greener….Don’t worry about the color of your grass versus the grass of others. There is no comparison. There may exist commonalities you can share to build upon, but ultimately, your path is your own, for all the happiness, for all the immoral, and for all that is insignificant.
Nurture Compassion – To yourself, to those you know, to those you don’t know, to all those who you may never know or knew existed (in my Patrick Swayze from Roadhouse impression)….”I want you to be nice”. No, but seriously, I want you to be kind.
Let’s not confuse finding the right path as a geographical destination. It is not. If it is anything, it is a step, a walk, a voyage to rebirth. Let’s rediscover who we are and who we can really be.
Stay mindful…
