What are Kind Rebirths (Lesson 1)
What are Kind Rebirths (1)
Kind Rebirths is the process of changing one’s self (actions, beliefs, thoughts) at any moment in their lives. This is done by aligning mindfulness and positive intention. Mindfulness is a three-prong approach to conscious living:
1)The ability to enact single-focused attention on any idea or subject;
2)The ability to be self-aware of one’s place in a moment while focusing on everything around you in one instance; and
3)Most importantly, the ability to perceive and recognize all internal thoughts and outside actions surrounding you without judgment – to simply take in external factors, receive whatever lesson comes from them, and then to let them pass without attachment.
The Theme:
Kind Rebirths is a literal and figurative embodiment of our earthly presence freeing itself from the attachments, the distractions, and negative influences that pervade our minds, our bodies, souls and our actions. Many of us continually get lost in disillusionment or forget the true positive nature on which the human existence is built upon. Our inability to separate ourselves from what we think we should be does not align itself with its true purpose and ability. Kind Rebirths is not a religious doctrine nor is it meant to sway a person to one principle over another or to straddle the fence on one’s personal spiritual belief and journey. In fact, it’s meant to do just the opposite. My goal is to awaken those who need a push or a nudge in the direction that leads them to benevolence and charitable behaviors. As mentioned before, I don’t orate or advise on one religion or another; however, to borrow a quote from the 14th Dalai Lama, if I had a religion of my own, “my religion is kindness.”
The Purpose:
The purpose of the Kind Rebirths brand is to concentrate and emphasize the transformational change we as humans are capable of at any given moment with special regard to our worldview perspectives (simply – how we choose to see the world and how we choose to see ourselves in it). Transformative learning, a pedagogical learning style coined by Professor Emeritus, Jack Mezirow, taught that humans possess the unique skill to adjust their thinking when presented with new knowledge. Mezirow’s teachings revolutionized the idea that a person’s worldview perspective and beliefs were born out of the learning we did growing up and through our early developmental years which often skewed our perceptions of ordinary things later in life. And in order for adults to face and respond to the changes in life or as we begin to face change head on, we need the requisite critical thinking skills in order to adapt to new surroundings. In order to adapt, we need the competency skills to acclimatize. More simply placed, we need (and already possess) the ability to absorb new knowledge as we seek to change our perspectives, or our worldviews.
In my own studies, I looked deeper into this and reflected on how this applies to our spiritual beliefs and our everyday lives. From a qualitative study I conducted on college-aged students, I discovered that in a true understanding of accepting change and enacting on it, it is a combination of awareness, new knowledge, and critical thinking. Thus, as we pack our mind with knowledge gained from new sources because we have learned to open our mind to new information without judgment; recognize the compassion to accept others and beliefs that are different, we are more aware; and finally we take action by using our critical thinking skills and skills of reasoning to impart intentional positive behaviors. In essence, Kind Rebirths seeks to transform your worldviews by raising your awareness and how you conduct yourself with that new knowledge of it.
Stay mindful…
