Mindfulness and the Soul’s Purpose
Have you ever thought about your purpose or the purpose of your soul? I have and just by asking the question can sway the rationale for even looking. Perhaps some need it to define themselves or discover themselves to find meaning. But how do you define meaning? By trying to understand your “role” in society or within your family? Maybe the meaning we think we are looking for isn’t really meaning at all. Have we ever considered that by assigning a path to discover meaning leads us down a road that actually has no ending and whose only purpose is to provide something to chase, something we use to occupy our minds or to invent function? Or worse, what if it is just more of Mr. Ego showing up to distract us from another less deluded truth? I don’t know. I want to think about that more along this path later. Meanwhile, let’s focus on the purpose and role of mindfulness in the soul’s purpose. I think that is a worthwhile venture as we attempt to discover (or uncover) more of who we can be.
In keeping with that, the soul’s purpose is not something you can chase. It is, indeed, something you unearth. I cannot imagine that it reveals itself through pressure or by force. It arrives by careful and concerted stillness and listening to the quiet truths inside you. And that quiet truth that many discover for themselves, is often prescribed specifically for them. Too many times I have seen from my own experience the masses attempt to assign purpose to groups of people, but possibly the kind of rebirth we need individually will teach us that our purpose and meaning are meant solely for ourselves, not to be a shared quest. But the only way you can find that is by studying through the uninterrupted and soundless eliminating the distractions of the world.
Using mindfulness is a gateway to natural discovery. The kind of discovery that does not come from blind followship. It comes as a result of recognizing a deeper voice inside you that knows you better than others do, that knows you better than you probably know yourself, and that knows what will benefit you more and where you should place your focus and intention. It knows where you need to go next. While that voice is subtle and does not command your attention, it’s there and it’s steady. It doesn’t push you to listen, it invites you to. No demanding, only revelation. I imagine that some refer to this as intuition in many cases. But this intuition is different because it can sometimes be confusing as it is often built around the way we perceive the world.
Your purpose is special, particularly after it has spoken to you. Your soul’s rebirth of purpose is divine or cosmic energy. It is an alignment of spirit and your true expression in this life. It is not a job. It is not a career path. It is not a race, a point on some vision board, nor is it part of a five-year strategy to succeed in life. No, it’s something so much more and something so much simpler. Try not to get caught in the web of thinking of it as these things. You diminish its worth and its value by doing so. Remember that “moment” I’m always rambling on and on about, it’s that. It’s to be discovered in the moment. And what’s even more wild and exciting about it, the moment of discovery of your rebirthed purpose provokes your feeling to love more and to love more unconditionally, to be creative, the desire to serve and connect with others, and what I find supremely important for the context of this post – it provokes the wisdom inside you that was meant only for you, but it’s also meant as an experience for you to share.
Finding purpose through mindfulness is joy felt without effort. It’s peace that needs no explanation to yourself or rationalization to others. It simply comes at no cost other than the time it takes to appreciate it and then the desire to share its impacts with others. As you begin to feel alive again, still present and grounded, that purpose you’ve exposed is a kind transformation.
Revelation
Mindfulness, again, helps you recognize patterns of purpose. And these are not coincidences, these are clues. Think about the things in life that sway you. What are you doing that energizes you or motivates you? Are there topics and ideas that seem to return to you naturally? What things do you do or think about that make you lose track of time? What things make love visible for you? Whatever the responses are for you (which is cosmically meant for you and only you), slowing down long enough for your feel of them is worthwhile. That’s what I have learned. Living a life on autopilot for so long at worst closes your eyes completely or at best makes your worldview a vision seen from squinted eyes. As a result, all the alignments are overlooked. And the rare moments when your soul speaks through the heavy fog of disillusionment, intuition and curiosity are discredited and abandoned. It’s not supported. BUT, in one kind rebirthed breath, everything can change.
A kind rebirth revelation is found in easier ways when you are practicing that stilled awareness. When you are stressed and rushing, you don’t bloom. It does not dig deeper when you are disconnected from compassion and from yourself. Try to reopen your connection to your soul. Think about the distinction between desire and conditioning. Don’t get caught in the race to chase what you think you “should” want or the relationship you are supposed to have, or even the path that looks greener on the other side of the fence. That leads to emptiness and disappointment. Let mindfulness guide you from that and introduce you to the necessary discomfort that comes from change. Not a change to throw you off, but one that powers that purpose into creating and rebirthing that new you on your new path with new intention and purpose. Let growth be uncomfortable for a while. That expansion is unsettling, but it will teach you transition instead of resistance. Honor uncertainty temporarily, but do not let it paralyze you. When you see that you are torn between what was and what could be, that’s growth. That’s becoming.
Remember, this distinction is yours. The purpose of your soul may not all be revealed at once; it unfolds as you grow, as you hurt, as you heal, as you evolve. There are always new teaching angles developing and new callings emerging. Each is an opportunity to be rebirthed with kindness. Use that to help others and to help yourself. This is why rebirth is so important. It is a process. Stepping into your next chapter cannot be done while clinging and attached to your last. Your soul’s purpose growth identification is stunted. Leave what has passed in the past and let your soul’s purpose reveal itself to you kindly.
Stay mindful…
