One Day at a Time
There are many times in life, or seasons, that our lives feel super heavy. When our minds start racing or we try to solve problems that haven’t come to fruition or when our hearts are still recovering from all of the things that actually have transpired. In moments like these, “one day at a time” loses its cliché status. It becomes a discipline to practice and make stronger. It is subtle and quiet decision that we make to stop trying to borrow from “Peter” and tomorrow’s worries and start trying to regain our footing on today. We have to find the way to realize we don’t have to have our entire lives figured out before taking that next step forward. Sometimes we only need the clarity to make today’s decisions with integrity. We only need today’s conversations to include kindness. We need today’s effort to be filled with purpose. And we need today’s rest and sometimes retreat without any feelings of remorse or guilt.
Progress is rarely built by extraordinary moments. It is curated by ordinary days that encompass a will that refuses to submit. Some days our victories may be outstanding and noticeable. The others, well, those victories may simply allow you to get up, get out, and keep moving despite varying degrees of uncertainty. Never look down or underestimate the strength of making through just one more day. Let those small wins accumulate. One dramatic breakthrough in the world of reality is a stretch, but with steady courage, we can return to the present moment each time for smaller gains. When that tomorrow does arrive, let it find us living well today.
Stay Mindful…
