The Quiet Power of Small Wins: Rebirth Yourself One Victory at a Time
The world only praises and salutes the big victories in life, marriage, graduation, childbirth, promotions, and the like. Why are these big shiny milestones celebrated at great length and grandeur while we routinely cast smaller ones to the side? My guess is that it would have something to do with our conditioning or our socialization. We have been de-sensitized to minor victories and trained to overlook the small and quiet miracles that surround us every day. These small, quiet miracles push us forward through life unassuming and causally motivating us to proceed forward and rarely do we stop to acknowledge them.
Let’s think about our day-to-day lives for a second. How often do we choose kindness over cruelty? How often do we move forward in the face of adversity unknown by the masses of coworkers, friends, and strangers? How many days have we chosen to get up out of bed when we know (and it’s even scarier when you don’t know) what is in store for us just living our regular lives. The fact that we can get up, smile, pour that coffee down our throats and head to work is an accomplishment some days all by itself. Celebrate yourself. Life is a heavy lift.
In representing Kind Rebirths, I would like to honor those for subtle triumphs. In this collective, we believe that rebirth not only happens in the impressive and the imposing, but it also happens in the mundane and rudimentary elements of life. Again, this is the part of life that others hardly see, the small acts of kindness and courage and will. It’s the type of win that rewards the soul and not the television camera and TV ratings. It’s yours to hold no matter how much press and publicity you receive from it. These types of rebirths don’t always announce themselves with fireworks if they choose to introduce themselves at all. Sometimes, it whispers.
Why Small Wins Matter
Little victories are sacred and humble. They create the building blocks of self-trust and self-confidence. They are an emotional renewal. Each small win is a declaration:
“I’m still here trying to fight this battle every day. I am still trying and I will never give up. I am still becoming. Every positive win is an act of transformation. I am still becoming because there is simplicity in this interconnected world that binds us together.”
When conquering small victories, we win, we heal. Healing is not often a smooth path that leads from A to B. It requires a series of moments and steps in between. Each one of those steps and moments are challenges to our personal well-being, our beliefs, our health, our minds, and our souls. So, when you utilize the grace to move yourself forward when you face self-doubt, or you practice patience in moments when there are those standing over you constantly stealing your peace and balance, or when you choose to “let go” when you feel the struggle of delusion or craving take you on, your life is rewriting its purpose. Let that kind of rebirth hold you when uncertainty arises. I pray these not just help build up your self-confidence; these are self-identity builders. They stay with you forever and serve to remind you that when others have abandoned you or shown little support for your journey, remember your rebirth has shown you something otherwise.
The Art of Notice
The more acknowledgment you make and place on your radar. The more they grow. You have more to be proud of than you know. Your rebirth guided you to make a choice that you may not have otherwise made and it may not be world changing. Start with yourself. The world will always need changing, so do not lose your place in the world and the impacts your small changes make.
Keep noticing.
Stay mindful…
