Restarting

The Power of Restart

Hey everyone – consider stopping the practice of associating change with dramatic shifts.

I know most have that strong belief that when we seek to change something, we are challenging and changing the world exponentially. In truth, it doesn’t have to be that and, in most cases, it’s not. The most meaningful change in the world doesn’t move mountains, but it can change thought patterns and intention one mind at a time.

With this in mind, let’s talk briefly about restarting. I fell in love with the idea of having the chance to restart. Without me getting too deep on what’s “man’s purpose” is or too religious, other beings envy us. They envy us because we have the power to think and to change. We are not stuck in a pattern of autopilot or routine. We have free will to maneuver our thoughts as we desire. Other beings are drastically less powerful in that regard. What also separates us, especially from the animal class, is that we are aware. Not only are we aware in that we can sense and see things around us, but we also have the ability to be self-aware – to understand what’s going on within us and in our minds. Think about it. How often are we just sitting somewhere and our thoughts start to drift off into space? Or maybe one day someone steps on our brand new pair of shoes, leaving a mark that won’t come off and leaving us upset and angry. Just the shear recognition alone is worth its price in gold. It’s powerful. You are offered a chance to positively reset and recalibrate. When you do, you rebirth kindly.

When I came up with Kind Rebirths, I knew that it was more than just starting over. It’s also a return. We can return to who we were or back to the standards that we believe are wholesome and positive. We can return back to clear sight and clarity. Before we were (or are) distracted, we were grounded. We only strayed away because we become disillusioned, but we can come back anytime with a little compassionate effort.

You know what else makes a restart (or rebirth) powerful? One word – availability. There is nothing to stop us from taking this standing moment to restart the moment we begin to feel disgruntled, disassociated, or detached. When we are of pure mindful thought and presence, we can start mid-sentence if we start to derail in a conversation. It’s that obtainable, to you, to me, and to anyone.

The more we practice this over time, the more trust we have in our ability to return and to restart. As easily as we drift away is just how easily we can reel ourselves back in. And if I’m right, earning and holding that trust reduces the panic and the anxiety we often feel. A restart isn’t dramatic. Let it become your disciplined awareness.

Stay mindful…

Rebirth
