Traveling to Rebirths
Life offers many small opportunities to begin again, in addition to the large grand moments we may expect. These little moments allow us to shed the mental perceptions we have of ourselves, our habitual routines, and many of our personal fears. The opportunities are the critical ingredients of a Kind Rebirth. It’s the subtle, but very intentional transformation that comes from a central concern for our well-being and who we have the potential to become.
With this frame in mind, let’s look to one of the most powerful stimulators of rebirth change – travel. Anyone who knows me knows I am always blubbering about the need to travel and the want to travel. By time I had finally gathered the resources in my life to travel and see unfamiliar places, I had created a to-do list of places to go. Many thought it was just an excuse to get out of the house, but for me, it was also a reason to experience new surroundings. New experiences breed new feelings and emotions. It also breeds new transformative possibilities. Stepping out of the familiar is notorious for creating transformation.
Finding Comfort in a Journey to the Unknown
Traveling is not always just about the actual visit to new places; it’s about imagining and discovering how different our lives could be. In a new land, on a new journey, we can be something different from our old predictable lives. We can release old conventions and confront uncertainty openly and unbiased. This is a test of who we are and how well we can adapt.
Each time we take a new trip, we can find something new within ourselves. For me, the quiet stillness of the desert helps obtain mental peace; the rough, turbulent waves from the ocean remind me of the internal disturbance caused by change; and mountain views demonstrate the power of stability located within each of us. Traveling from one city to another or from one country to another is similar to how we change the inner landscapes of our mind. These experiences nourish our spirit, incite the awe from a rebirth though change, and equally, teaches us what things we can let go of. A Kind Rebirth is a journey of exploration and revolution.
Travel Compass
In keeping with the same analogy, we do not disregard where we are from or where we are [live] now. We pick up new experiences and pieces to add to the repertoire of our lives. Whether it’s from a conversation with a stranger at the airport or a sunrise from a view overlooking the ocean or eating the cuisine du jour from one of the local restaurants. The goal here is to not leave our current life. It means meeting change with kindness and appreciation and openness right where we are. As a tourist to rebirth, every experience is part of our awakening (or reawakening).
My travels have been nothing short of a ritual. While each trip (experience) teaches me something new and changes who I am, I always retain the remembrance of who I am. Never forget who you are, just learn to let go of the things that keep you rigid and fixed. Rebirth is change beneath the anticipation and bondage of expectation.
Returning Home Transformed
Time to go home. So, what now? All good things and trips must come to an eventual end. But when we return home, the person that arrives is different, more conscious, more grounded, and hopefully more enlightened and with more gratitude. Awakening through experience and allowing life to teach its universal lesson at an all-inclusive price. This is precious and invaluable.
A trip to Kind Rebirths only requires and only accepts one type of currency – presence. Be courageous and stay present and receptive.
Stay mindful…
