What Is Your Kind Rebirth Moment?
Have you ever experienced something that made you see life a little differently? It doesn’t have to be something ground-breaking. Maybe it was just a conversation you weren't expecting or listening to a song that brought back memories. Perhaps you experienced an ordinary moment that suddenly made you recognize something about yourself that you hadn’t noticed before….and nothing dramatic even happened. The world around you didn't change, but it was just something about the way you experienced it did. Those are moments I call Moments of Kind Rebirth.
With Kind Rebirths, yes, I talk a lot about mindfulness, awareness, and clarity. That’s a fact. But believe me, these aren't ideas that belong exclusively to me, to meditation, solely to the quiet spaces I often refer to, nor are they limited to moments of deep reflection. They are part of our everyday and normal life. When awareness arrives, sometimes we're standing in line at the grocery store scrolling through our Instagram page, listening to someone tell how their weekend went, or sometimes we are simply sitting alone with our thoughts. For me, sometimes some of the deepest ones comes through an experience that challenges something I’ve believed for a very long time.
You know what makes these moments so meaningful? It isn’t necessarily the experience itself. In many cases, it's what we recognize because of it. Haven’t you ever realized that some expectations that we’ve been carrying was never really ours? How about this one - have you recognized that we may have blindly placed judgment on someone who was simply experiencing life through their own circumstances in a way that we hadn't considered? We in so many ways move so quickly that we hardly stop long enough to take notice of the things we misinterpret and why would we? Well, because on rare occasion, when we slow down enough to put mindful effort into something we’ve always accepted as true, we may be shocked what we discover on the other side. I’ve had more profound realizations that I can count on five hands. And somehow, in each encounter, it’s left me wanting more. Each moment of clarity, each moment of Rebirth reminds me that there is still more to learn, much more for me to notice, and so much more for me to find understanding about myself within myself and myself within the world around us.
A Kind Rebirth doesn't require a dramatic transformation. You don't have to reinvent yourself. You don’t even have to make a major decision or suddenly have everything figured out. Sometimes the rebirth is as straightforward and uncomplicated as recognizing something you hadn't noticed before. And that awareness may change your perspective. Who knows what doors different perspectives can open and how impactful it can be to your way of living.
I've been thinking about how many of these moments happen around us every day. We don’t even bother to give it a name. I imagine that’s because even though we experience them and possibly carry that feeling around with us for a while, we are so conditioned that we return to our routines without any effort at all. But what if we began to pay closer attention to them? Think of what that kind of awareness could reveal to us? I like those kinds of conversations. I’d like to have more of those.
So, all of this being said, what is your Kind Rebirth moment? Think about a time when something you experienced changed the way you saw yourself, another person, or the world around you. It doesn't have to be extraordinary. Sometimes the smallest moments leave us with the clearest understanding. I’d love to hear yours. Who knows? May be your Kind Rebirth Moment can start the chain of events to impact others.
Stay Mindful…
