It Still Hurts Pt 1

Part 1 - When You Know It’s Coming… But It Still Hurts

April 14, 20262 min read

The hardest moments aren’t always the ones that catch you off guard. Sometimes, they’re the ones you’ve seen coming long before they arrive. You’ve already spent time thinking about them, preparing yourself in small ways, even trying to make peace with what you know you will eventually have to face. We tell ourselves that awareness will soften the blow, that being ready will create some distance between us and that feeling of waiting just beyond the horizon. But when the moment finally arrives, it still hits—and it’s real.

That can be difficult to reconcile. I’ve found myself questioning why the awareness didn’t do more. Why didn’t knowing make it easier? But that uncomfortable truth shows up again—awareness was never meant to remove the experience. It allows you to recognize it more clearly. The feeling still moves through you. It still asks to be felt in real time, not managed from a distance.

Sometimes, the shift isn’t in avoiding the pain, but in how you meet it. And even in that, something begins to take shape. If you stay with the moment, you may notice it. Even though the pain is present, you’re not reacting the same way you once did. You’re not rushing to escape it or forcing it into meaning too quickly. That moment matters. That’s the rebirth in action.

Knowing that pain is coming doesn’t remove it. But it does give you something else. It allows you to see how you experience it—and how you see yourself within it—more clearly. And in that clarity, something begins to open.

You don’t have to wait for the feeling to go away to move forward. You don’t have to reach for a version of yourself that feels untouched or fully ready. The moment can still hurt… and you can still meet it with enough awareness to understand what it’s asking of you.

Kind Rebirths, mindfulness, and awareness won’t remove the pain in the way we might want. But they bring you back—to yourself—so you can face it and move through it with clarity.

Stay Mindful…
Rebirth.
