You Don’t Need a Breakthrough – You Need Attention
As popular as motivational speaking and personal coaching has become, it shares the spotlight with the concept of the “breakthrough.” In life, we look for anything that appears to be a defining moment. We want that insight that changes everything down to the core. We long for that supreme or divine revelation that is meant to restructure and alter our lives in the blink of an eye. Unfortunately, friends, life doesn’t always manifest that way. Sometimes it just starts with attention.
When we start to pay attention to patterns, to the things that frustrate us repeatedly, or the recurring situations that constantly drain us aren’t extremely dramatic. In fact, they are quite subtle and unnoticeable. However, when we start to slow down just enough to understand and reflect on our responses, we begin to see clarity form and slowly rise. For example, instead of what we may assume to be a lack of motivation, may in fact be exhaustion. Our anger may just be unresolved disappointment. Or, what we see as the pressure from external sources (like most things we deal with daily from the world) may just be a misalignment that we are facing internally.
Kind Rebirths isn’t focused on the type of transformation created by formulas or equations. It is focused on direct attention. As we begin to see things clearly, and I mean how they truly exist beyond our interpretation of them, all things begin to take new shape and new meaning. What do they say, “Once you’ve seen it, it’s hard to unsee.” Well, that is how clarity operates when it starts to work and influence the choices we make.
As we continue our reflection, let’s consider that perhaps we don’t need the dramatic changes we see in movies. Maybe all we need is the control and the discipline to observe our own movements and thoughts with honesty. This (transformation) can be less about that theatrical breakthrough moment if begin to understand that the goal may actually be about sustaining awareness instead. Paying attention causes our lives to adjust accordingly. Attention is meant to reorganize quietly.
Stay mindful…
